Trusted support to help make sense of essential legal documents when a loved one has memory loss
Estate planning is an important task for anyone who has assets, but for many, the process is uncomfortable and daunting. However, if someone you love has a cognitive impairment, it is especially important to make planning a priority—despite discomfort—so that you:
• Honor the wishes of your loved one.
• Safeguard assets.
• Understand timelines that enable you to preserve wealth.
• Become able to make sense of unfamiliar language so that you make agreeable decisions.
• Know which documents you need and when to execute them.
Please join us and skilled attorneys for an enlightening presentation that demystifies the legalese of wills, trusts and other estate planning documents. Speakers will focus on issues that are specifically relevant to planning for memory-impaired individuals. To ensure a pleasant and relaxed atmosphere, wine and refreshments will be available throughout the evening.
While you’re here, share your concerns about a loved one with our Kensington team. We are ready to listen, and we promise to love and care for your family as we do our own.

Dr. Annie Fenn is the founder of The Brain Health Kitchen, the only cooking school of its kind focused exclusively on brain health and helping people prevent cognitive decline through food and lifestyle. After twenty years as a board-certified ob-gyn, she traded in her stethoscope for an apron to pursue her passion for the culinary arts. But it was her mother’s diagnosis with dementia that helped Fenn find her path and her new calling, one that enabled her to not only help her mother but also create significant and meaningful impact for others. Fenn lives in Jackson, Wyoming. Find her on Instagram at @brainhealthkitchen.

7pm – 7:30pm: Meet & Greet with Melissa Long, Insight Memory Care Center
The holiday season is a time of new and old traditions, and sharing in the joy and togetherness of spending time with friends and family. But for families whose loved ones are diagnosed with Alzheimer’s or Dementia, the holidays can be stressful and overwhelming; and for family caregivers, oftentimes difficult to remember the joy that holidays can bring.
Kensington Senior Living is thrilled to partner with our panel of caregiver coaches and experts: Lisa Bricker, Elder Care Consultant; Melissa Long, Director of Education and Support at Insight Memory Care Center; and Monica Moore, Community Health Program Manager for the Mary S. Easton Center for Alzheimer’s Research & Care. From purposeful gift ideas to creative, meaningful ways to spend time together, our experts will discuss how to adapt while caring for your loved one; and new ways to find joy in the wonderfulness of the season.
Join us onsite for a screening of the webinar. Afterwards, make sure to stay around for our meet & greet and get the chance to speak with Mellissa Long. In an intimate setting, she will address questions about the webinar and provide expert advice for any other caregiver concerns you’d like to discuss.
The Speakers:
Melissa Long is the Director of Education and Support for Insight Memory Care Center. Melissa coordinates support groups, caregiver workshops and educational events for caregivers and their loved ones on the journey with dementia. Melissa has been providing care to older adults for 17+ years.
Lisa Bricker is an Elder Care Consultant, Placement Specialist, and Founder of Gently Guided, LLC. She helps families transition forward with compassion. She has served hundreds of families of diverse needs as a Senior Care Consultant and Alzheimer’s and Dementia Placement Specialist. Monica Moore, MSG is the Community Health Program Manager for the Mary S. Easton Center for Alzheimer’s Research and Care at UCLA and the Co-Director, Training and Education Activities, UCLA-California Alzheimer’s Disease Center. She has worked in the field of aging and Alzheimer’s disease for 20 years focusing on community education and outreach and caregiver support. YOU, as a caregiver, matter to us as much as our residents do. We understand that caregiving for someone can, at times, be a demanding commitment. We also believe it is one you should not undertake alone. That’s why we strive to preserve your well-being by helping you stay positive, manage fatigue and make the most of time spent with your loved one. Let The Kensington Reston be your trusted resource for information and the comforting ally you need.
Please join us on the 2nd Thursday of every month with Susie Sarkisian, CPCC, Certified Life Coach. Share time connecting with other caregivers and discussing common challenges in a welcoming, private setting. This group is complimentary and open to all family caregivers, whether your loved one is living at home or in a community.
Susie Sarkisian has worked in senior living for the last 15 years, most recently as the Director of Family Services for our sister community The Kensington White Plains in New York. As a daughter whose father had Lewy Body Dementia, Susie found herself drawn to supporting her mother, the caregiver (pictured right). She is a Certified Life Coach, specially trained in listening, coaching, supporting, and validating others. Click here to learn more about Susie.
