Graduation and joining the team as a Care Partner
After your 5-day training period, you’ll celebrate your successful completion of the Direct Care Training program to officially start your role as a Care Partner, a caregiving role at The Kensington Reston.
Curriculum details: fostering expertise and compassion
Our Direct Care Training curriculum is carefully designed to equip Care Partners, the primary caregivers for our residents, with specialized skills for assisting people with dementia and Alzheimer’s.
Here’s a brief overview of what you’ll learn through this program:
- Neurological education: Learn about the neurological changes associated with Alzheimer’s and dementia through classroom sessions.
- Hands-on practice: Gain practical experience with Activities of Daily Living (ADLs) to support the daily needs of our residents.
- Specialized dementia Care/PAC training: Engage in Teepa Snow’s Positive Approach to Care (PAC) program, which trains caregivers on the best practices for interacting with and caring for people with dementia.
- 2 days of job shadowing: Work alongside experienced team members for at least 2 days to apply your new skills in real-world scenarios, enhancing your understanding and expertise in caring for our residents.
