The Sandwich Generation Squeeze

What is the Sandwich Generation? noun – a generation of people responsible for bringing up their children and for the care of their aging parents.

Did you know that nearly half of adults in their 40s and 50s have a parent aged 65 or older and are either raising a young child or financially supporting a grown child? And that caregivers in this Sandwich Generation feel more stress than any other age group?

The demanding, delicate act of caring for growing children and aging parents at the same time can lead to not only exhaustion, but also can negatively impact your physical and mental health. We believe that hearing from others that are going through similar journeys can provide you with much needed support, as well as a sense of community.

That is why we were thrilled partner with three experts who are ready and willing to guide you through it all: Christy Byrne Yates, Author and Caregiver; Alexandria Goff, Esq., Estate Planning Attorney & Karen Osborne, Podcast Host and Caregiver. During this interactive conversation, our panel discusses tips and tricks on how to create balance, and offer practical advice on ways to manage the stress that comes with caring for your loved ones.

Christy Byrne Yates is the Author of Building a Legacy of Love: Thriving in the Sandwich Generationas well as a Licensed Educational Psychologist and Mental Health Professional with over 40 years of working with various populations. She says, “As someone who’s been squeezed in the Sandwich Generation, my aim is to provide resources, connections, and useful frameworks to help you make informed and empowering choices in caring for yourself, your family, and the people you serve.”

Alexandria Goff, also known as ‘Ali,’ is the founder of Goff Legal, PC, a law firm focused on estate planning, probate & estate administration matters. Ali is known for her in-depth knowledge and expertise with wills, trusts, and durable powers of attorney. Ali is passionate about helping others and was drawn to estate planning to help protect people and their families, and provide peace of mind so they avoid complications for generations to come.
