Breath: The New Science of a Lost Art

Breath: The New Science of a Lost Art

By James Nestor

While we were skeptical at first about an entire book about breathing, Breath: The New Science of a Lost Art, had a surprisingly adventurous tone to it. This New York Times best-seller by California-based science journalist James Nestor had us captivated right from the start.

There is nothing more essential to our health and well-being than breathing. We take about 25,000 breaths a day. Yet, the human species, rarely does this correctly.

In the book, the author explores the process of breathing through thoughtful stories, interesting anecdotes, and shared personal experiences. Having dealt with a chronic lung condition for most of his teenage and adult life, James sets out to explore various techniques on how to heal his chronic illness through the “ancient art”, as he puts it, of breathing.

Reminiscent of such titles such as “Eat, Pray, Love” and “Under the Tuscan Sun”, “Breath” takes us through Mr. Nestor’s journey of healing. Emotionally, physically, and spiritually. We hope this book will be as much of a breath of fresh air for you, as it was for us.
