A Walk in the World of Dementia: An Interactive Training Experience for Families & Professionals

The Kensington Reston is proud to partner with Jayne Seymour, Certified Dementia Trainer with Dementia Matters for this nationally recognized interactive dementia training program. We invite family caregivers and senior living professionals to join us for expert information, a delicious lunch made by our Executive Chef Valerie, and the chance to make new connections.

This interactive course is designed to teach attendees the stages of dementia and how to help, and work with, those living with dementia throughout each stage. Each attendee participates in a unique interactive dementia tour so that they can be empowered with compassion and empathy and better understand what it is like to live with dementia. Additionally, all attendees learn how to do “with” rather than “to” for working with those living with dementia, and role play proven techniques such as positive Physical Approach (PPS) and Hand Under Hand (HUH).

Jayne Seymour has made health and wellness her primary professional focus for almost 40 years. Over these years, Jayne has spent time working in the local school system, group exercise classes, multiple Continuing Care Retirement Communities, and our local hospital. During this time Jayne earned her Certifications as a Nursing Assistant, Fitness Specialist, Senior Fitness Specialist and now Dementia Trainer. Outside of Jayne’s credentials, her passion, calling and energy for helping families, caregivers and anyone else affected by Dementia is truly refreshing.
